Help & installation

Install GiveFeedback.io on your website

It takes one snippet in your site’s <head>. Pick your platform below. Most installs take a few minutes.

First, copy your snippet

  1. Log in at app.givefeedback.io and open your project (or create one with your website’s address).
  2. Click Install plugin in the project menu.
  3. Click Copy to copy the snippet. It contains your project’s token, so each website gets its own.
<script type="text/javascript">
(function(g,i,v,e){
  i.gfConfig={token:"YOUR-PROJECT-TOKEN"};
  /* … the rest of your snippet … */
})(window, document);
</script>

Then add it to your platform

The snippet goes before the closing </head> tag so it loads on every page.

Custom HTML

If you're using a static or custom-coded HTML site, paste our snippet directly into the <head> of your pages.

  1. Open the HTML file where feedback should appear – usually index.html, or your shared layout/template (e.g. header.html) so the snippet is loaded on every page.
  2. Locate the <head>...</head> section near the top of the file.
  3. Paste your snippet anywhere before the closing </head> tag.
  4. Save the file and upload or redeploy it to your server.

WordPress

The simplest way to add our snippet to WordPress is with a free plugin – no theme editing required.

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins → Add New.
  2. Search for WPCode (also known as "Insert Headers and Footers"), then click Install Now and Activate.
  3. In the sidebar, open Code Snippets → Header & Footer.
  4. Paste your snippet into the Header field.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Note: Prefer editing your theme directly? Add the snippet before </head> in header.php from a child theme, so your changes survive theme updates.

Shopify

Shopify lets you edit your theme's layout file to inject scripts into every page's <head>.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
  2. On your active theme, click the ... menu and choose Edit code.
  3. In the left sidebar, under Layout, open theme.liquid.
  4. Paste your snippet immediately before the </head> tag.
  5. Click Save.

Note: Already using Shopify's Customer Events (formerly Web Pixels)? You can paste the snippet there instead – but theme.liquid is simpler and works on every plan.

Wix

Wix has a built-in Custom Code feature for adding scripts site-wide – no theme editing needed.

  1. In your Wix dashboard, go to Settings → Custom Code (under "Advanced").
  2. Click + Add Custom Code.
  3. Paste your snippet and give it a name like "GiveFeedback".
  4. Set Add Code to Pages to All pages, and Place Code in to Head.
  5. Click Apply to publish.

Note: Custom Code is only available on Wix paid plans (Premium). Free Wix sites cannot add third-party scripts.

Squarespace

Squarespace has a Code Injection panel for adding site-wide scripts.

  1. From your Squarespace dashboard, go to Settings → Advanced → Code Injection.
  2. Paste your snippet into the Header field.
  3. Click Save.

Note: Code Injection requires a Business plan or higher. Personal plans cannot add custom scripts.

PrestaShop

PrestaShop lets you inject custom JavaScript into every page through a small free module – no template editing needed.

  1. In your PrestaShop admin, go to Modules → Module Catalog.
  2. Search for a custom code module such as "Custom HTML, CSS & JS" or "HTML Box", then install it.
  3. Open the module configuration and find the field for Custom JS or <head> code.
  4. Paste your snippet into that field and save.
  5. Clear the PrestaShop cache: Advanced Parameters → Performance → Clear cache.

Note: On a custom theme? Add the snippet to themes/<your-theme>/templates/_partials/head.tpl before clearing cache.

Google Tag Manager

If your site already uses Google Tag Manager (GTM), you can deploy our snippet through it without touching your site's code.

  1. In Google Tag Manager, open the container for your site.
  2. Go to Tags → New, then click Tag Configuration and choose Custom HTML.
  3. Paste your snippet into the HTML field.
  4. Under Triggering, choose All Pages.
  5. Name the tag (e.g. "GiveFeedback"), click Save, then Submit and publish the container.

Note: GTM works on top of any platform you're already using – useful when you can't (or don't want to) edit theme code directly.

Check that it works

  1. Back in the app, the install page waits for your site and shows “Plugin detected!” as soon as the button loads.
  2. If it doesn’t: make sure the snippet is inside the <head>, visit any page of your site (in an incognito window if you use caching) and wait up to a minute.
  3. Open your site: a “Give Feedback” tab appears on the right edge. Click it and send a test report.

Using GiveFeedback.io

What happens when someone clicks “Give Feedback”?

The browser asks for permission to capture the current tab (the person clicks “Share”). The visible part of the page is captured and opens in an editor where they can draw arrows, boxes, circles, text or free-hand marks. They add a title, a description and a feedback type, then send it.

What information is attached to each report?

The annotated screenshot, the page URL, the browser and its version, the operating system, the screen resolution, the browser language, the time zone and whether cookies are enabled.

How do I invite my team or my client?

Open the project, go to Users and invite them by email. Invited people get a read-only view of the project’s feedback, so clients can follow the status of their requests. Anyone can send feedback through the button without being invited.

How do I mark feedback as done?

Open the report and click Resolve, or Archive it. You can filter the feedback list by open, resolved and archived.

How do I connect Notion or Asana?

Open the project, go to Integrations, choose Notion or Asana and sign in to authorise access. Then pick the Notion database or the Asana project for new reports. See the Notion and Asana pages.

Can I change the feedback types?

Yes. The defaults are Proposal, Bug, Recommendation and Feature. You can rename, reorder and add categories in your profile settings.

Can I hide the button or change how it looks?

On Pro you can show or hide the button. On Company you can also change its position (top, middle or bottom, left or right side), its colours and its text.

Does it work on phones?

The button appears on mobile, but taking a screenshot depends on the browser supporting screen capture, which many mobile browsers don’t. For reliable results, review on a desktop or laptop browser.

How do I cancel my subscription or delete my data?

Cancel any time from the billing section of your account; the plan stays active until the end of the paid period. To delete your account and data, email hello@givefeedback.io.
